Is this the big one??

According to this map, the weatherman feels fairly certain that my neck o' the woods is going to get absolutely hammered by a winter storm in the next 48 hours.

They scared us with "the possibility of a half foot of snow" on Sunday and we barely got a dusting. What will Tuesday and Wednesday bring?  Could the computer models be wrong twice in three days?

Sure they could.

Or we could have the first real snow storm of the season - maybe it will be remembered as the "Leap Day Blizzard of '12". 

But fret not.  Spring is exactly three weeks away.  And daylight savings time begins in eleven days!

If I have to break out my snow shovel for the first time this winter on March 1st, I'm not going to complain much.

It's back to work tomorrow.  I am getting the itch to make myself useful again.  I can only be off work for so long and I need to do something.  I could not stay at home all day every day.  It's not for me. So today, since I had the day completely to myself, the task at hand was to do laundry.  And do laundry I did.  As I write this, every article of clothing in the house is clean, folded (mostly) and put away (kind of). My job here is done. While completing the menial task of washing clothes, I had the television on as a distraction.  As usual, since it's not football season, I dialed up Turner Classic Movies. Parenting is a tough job.  But I am determined to teach the Tax Deductions good from bad, as evidenced by this video demonstration of the Boy.  He learns quickly.  In fact, he goes so fast, you might have to watch it twice. Still, he's a keeper.

Is Spring Here?

My first night back to work last night. I got up at 2 p.m. this afternoon and the eaves were dripping, the sun was bright and I just couldn't bring myself to go back to bed, even though I was still tired. So I let the dogs out and let them run (they were delighted with the warm weather, too), poured a cup of Folgers and puffed on an Iguana out in the garage as I listened to the wonderful "splish-splash" of the eaves melting away winter. My outdoor thermometer says 48 degrees (yes, above zero) right now and it is sitting in the shade. I think there is hope that winter will not last forever. We are one week and counting to Bon Jovi. They have four shows left until they hit the Twin Cities. It's funny how a person can wait for so long with so much anticipation for an event like this, and to the band it's just another stop on their itinerary.
