First Camping Trip of the Year

After nearly a week of rain, the skies cleared and we had a perfect weekend for camping with the Kampens.  It got even better when the Budahns unexpectedly arrived!  So all around it was a pretty darn relaxing weekend - maybe not enough sleep - but that comes with sharing a camper with a four year old and a 10 month old.  Plus that, Neil is sprouting his first tooth so he was a little on the crabby side, but he was a trooper for the most part.

And best part: no mosquitoes (or very few, I should say).  I bet if we go camping in another week or two it will be a different story.

Ava got to go fishing (her first time).  Korey bought her a princess fishing pole and she's still talking about it.  I will post pictures soon (the pics are on Beth's phone, so I have to wait until she gets home tonight).  Yes, Ava has decided she loves camping and she loves fishing.  It is going to be a fun summer.  I told her to ask her Uncle Dale if he could take her fishing too.  She thought that was a "great idea."

On Saturday night we had a meeting of the minds around the campfire and came up with some fun ideas for the Thursday night "Halloween" party at Farm Fest.  ...This is going to be a fun party, kids!

When we got home on Sunday afternoon I was motivated to GSD (get stuff done).  I mowed the lawn, opened the camper back up and put the canopy on the gazebo all in about three and a half hours.  So right there's the proof: you can have fun and be productive.

Prior to the camping weekend, I took Neil to his 10 month doctor's appointment.  He's in the 90th percentile in height, just like his sister was.  He is healthy as a horse (knock on wood) and he eats like one too.  How can a 21 pound boy eat 40 pounds of food every meal?  I haven't figured that one out.  It's hard to believe he is going to be one year old in less than two months.

We are going to have our first rehearsal for Farm Fest on June 12th out at the farm.  That means I have to start practicing again soon.  It seemed that Farm Fest was a long way away when the snow was knee deep.  Now it is right around the corner... then summer will be over.  Gee, what a way to bum myself out!

Now the fun is over and it is back to work for seven nights.

My boy is getting hungry.  Time for another 40 pounds of food.
