Goodbye November...

It is time I update, in case some of you think I've fallen off the face of the earth.  I don't think that would be possible with gravity and all, but you never know.

We enjoyed an extended weekend at the Bismarck Baumann's over Thanksgiving.

The weather wasn't the friendliest on the way to Bismarck.  The last 220 miles (give or take) looked like this, a snapshot Beth took with her phone:

Interstate 94, somewhere between Fargo and Bismarck, ND.

Yes, that is a car about 200 feet in front of us.  I was thankful that is wasn't snowing, just windy.  If it had been snowing even a moderate amount, the interstate would have been impossible to navigate.  It is no wonder why the highway patrol closes down the freeway when major winter storms hit.

Luckily it was a fairly uneventful trip, except for Ava's usual carsickness.  She only puked once and it was successfully retrieved in the proper receptacle.  No problem, just a quick stop in Hawley to toss the partially digested breakfast into a dumpster.

We had a couple of Thanksgiving meals - one on Thanksgiving night at Beth's Aunt Kristy's in New Salem and another on Saturday at Jon and Sara's.  Lots of great food, lots of football.  An especially good weekend for that - the Gophers beat the Hawkeyes, the Vikings won and the Bison won the first round of the college playoffs.  Did a mention a few beverages were enjoyed as well?

The trip home had good weather and no puking.  Not a lot of excitement, but that's a good thing.

Tomorrow is the first day of December and 2011 will be here in just 32 days.  Maybe it's just me, but the year has gone extremely fast.  Maybe having little kids makes it seem that way, I'm not sure.

It promises to be a pretty low-key Christmas this year since we both work over the holiday.  Just another weekend for us.  In a strange way, it is almost welcome because it really cuts down on the hustle and bustle and stress that Christmas gives you.  (It is not a holiday to be enjoyed and don't try and let anyone tell you that it is!!)

We got a healthy little snowfall overnight, so I guess winter is officially here.  It will certainly be a white Christmas in these parts.

I guess that's all for now.  Working my usual seven nights.  Beth is putting up some Christmas decorations, strategically placed so little paws can't get at them.  I guess it's time to dust off the Christmas music.
