Ready, set...

It's Monday. The start of another week of work. It is beautiful outside, I think the kiddo and I will have to get some sunshine today.

The shingles are finished. Some time this week the new gutters are supposed to be installed. The contractor, of course, will show up whenever he damn well feels like it. As these improvement projects near completion, our dryer decided to go belly-up yesterday. That's just fantastic, isn't it? We have a repairman coming out today to look at it. It's a good thing I've got a money tree planted in the backyard or I'd be a little concerned about running low on cash flow.

I finally got the lawn mowed yesterday. Next on my to-do list is power washing and re-staining the deck, which will happen next week when I'm off again. Then I need to finish our landscaping project we started last year. Our backyard looks embarrassing at the moment. The longer I put off that project the easier it is to forget about it. It's got to get done! Then I need to put up a swing set for Ava (that will be an adventure... but I can do it). Somewhere in between I need to go through the Farm Fest music so I sound like I halfway know what I'm doing in August.

Oh, there's also a new addition coming to our family in July. ...Did I mention that?

Something tells me I've got too much to do and not enough time this summer. I'm sure I'm the only one with that problem.

I suppose I should get off this computer and find something to occupy my time while I wait for the repairman to show up.

It's back to work tomorrow.  I am getting the itch to make myself useful again.  I can only be off work for so long and I need to do something.  I could not stay at home all day every day.  It's not for me. So today, since I had the day completely to myself, the task at hand was to do laundry.  And do laundry I did.  As I write this, every article of clothing in the house is clean, folded (mostly) and put away (kind of). My job here is done. While completing the menial task of washing clothes, I had the television on as a distraction.  As usual, since it's not football season, I dialed up Turner Classic Movies. I'm not stupid, but I can be a slow learner some times. Other times, I'm a little intimidated to try something new because I'm afraid I'll screw it up - hey, I've got a history. So after we got our new Mac I was really disappointed that it didn't recognize our digital camera.  In the Microsoft world, much of the technology is "plug and play."  Just plug the USB port into your PC and the new gizmo is up and running.  I have found that isn't necessarily the case with a Mac.  (it could also be very possible I'm doing something wrong - hey, I've got a history). I knew when I purchased a Mac that they weren't compatible with some things - it is Bill Gates' world and we just live in it.  Apple is Microsoft's competitor and Microsoft is the giant of the world.  But the payoff to owning a Mac is that you get a fine-oiled machine that just works .  And that's very much proven true so far.
