Arctic sunshine

"Arctic sunshine." I am so sick of that phrase.

All we've had for the past three or four days is "arctic sunshine" and we are having more again today. It's too cold to do anything outside and I am starting to get a little stir crazy in this house (which, by default, makes by wife really stir crazy). So out of desperation I decided to go out in this frigid crap just to get a little fresh, frozen air. And look what I found near the side of my house:

Now, this is either:
  1. a beautiful, natural ice sculpture
  2. a stalagmite in search of a cave
  3. or Old Man Winter got into a bottle of Viagra.

Either way, I thought that was pretty interesting.

We watched the movie Sling Blade last night and I thought it was very good. Dwight Yoakam was one of the stars and he was excellent (as in country star Dwight Yoakam). Billy Bob Thorton plays the wonderful lead character, a mentally retarded man named Karl, and my favorite line of the movie is when Karl tries to tell a joke:
Two fellars was peein'. One says the water is cold. The other says it's deep, too. I reckon one of them fellars was from Arkansas.
I suppose it's just me, but I think that's so funny. I guess you'd have to see the movie.

I've been spending a lot of my free time working on my dad's World War II blog. I was honored to have author Lisa Spahr leave a comment, telling me she was enjoying following Dad's story. Lisa recently wrote WWII Radio Heroes: Letters of Compassion. You can go to her web site right here: www.powletters.com . I am looking forward to reading the book. It is a true story and it has gotten great reviews on Amazon.

If you've been following my dad's WWII blog, you will notice with the next posting that the tempo is going to pick up considerably. And please don't be afraid to leave a comment. I appreciate any feedback, even if it is just a "hello." I know quite a few people are following along because the site has been visited close to 300 times in its first 25 days of being online. I think that's really cool!!

I hope you are staying warm. On days like this I swear I will never complain about the heat and humidity of summer. But who am I kidding? I'll be bitching about that in just a few months.

Man, I complain a lot.
